Rankings in all forms (Indexes, Top 10, etc) are an effective communication tool. Mapping Worlds can apply a large number of visual features to present indexes.
The Commitment to Development Index (CDI) rates 22 rich countries on what they do to help poor countries build prosperity, good government, and security. The data interface ranks countries across seven policy areas (aid, trade, migration, investment, environment, security and technology) and are then averaged for an overall score.
Being one of Mapping Worlds’ earlier projects, the CDI application has seen a lot of functionality additions over the years. In 2008 the drilldown data were added, offering access to all the variables used to calculate the index. The interface is high in content density while remaining rigorous in its navigation.
Every index is unique, whether in methodology, organization, range detail, content description or target audience. Our index viewers are customizable to each client’s need and align 100% with the data presented.
The Humanitarian Response Index, an initiative by DARA International, ranks rich countries on the quality of their humanitarian aid. The index is calculated using 5 components, or pillars, each based on a varying number of hard and soft variables. The 2007 viewer we developed displays scores of all variables with dynamic bars, resizing country icons and an overview panel.
