The World Population Map offers a highly detailed view of the current world population. The familiar image of the regular world map is safeguarded as much as possible, allowing for straightforward impact and easy navigation. Versions displaying 1950, 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2015 numbers are available.
The World Population Map put into use:
The United Nations Population Division uses a dynamic version of the map to compare 1950 and 2005 population data. A two-phase Flash animation shows the regular world map resizing into the 1950 World Population Map. This map further resizes into the 2005 World Population Map. The maps provide access to key demographic indicators of both years.
A 1950-2005 world population Flash animation is also featured in the central presentation of the 2006 Architecture Biennale in Venice (Italy). All urban agglomerations with a population larger than 750.000 are included, represented on the same scale as the countries.
The World Population Map, combined with Mapping Worlds cartograms on the Millennium Development Goals, in the lobby of Oxfam House, Oxford (UK).
